John (The Pope) Earl – 10/9/54 to 27/5/2016

John Earl passed away on the 27th. May 2016, at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, after battling with throat cancer. He was 61 years old at the time of his death. 

John’s cremation rites were held on 4th. June 2016, at Wat Theppabut, Hua Yai, Pattaya City. He is survived by his daughter Samantha and his partner Da.

The Pope was John’s Hash name and he was well known in the Hashing community. He was very prominent in the Pattaya Hash Harriers and his first run was Run number 7 which was on the 2nd.June 1984 when the PH3 was in its infancy and he completed 356 runs in total with PH3. He only stopped regularly participating due to work commitments.

John also co-edited the Hash Yearbook.”More .“

He also started the Pattaya Mountain Bike Hash and ran on the first Pattaya Fool Moon Hash.

He also participated in the Pattaya Dirt Road Hash.

John also ran with the Blang Lacang Hash in Indonesia, while he was working there and achieved over 250 Runs, where he was known as The Red Baron.
